Yoga Nidrā - Achieving Bliss Through Yogic Rest

Yoga Nidrā is the yogic state wherein progressive relaxation is practiced, with the ultimate goal of attaining bodily rest, while the mind remains fully awake and aware. In this state, one is able to better perceive and manipulate subtle energies, and infuse their lives with healing intentions (called Sankalpa, in Sanskrit).

The practice of Yoga Nidrā has several noted health benefits as evidenced by ongoing scientific research, which includes:

  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

  • Stress and Anxiety

  • Reduction of high blood pressure

  • Stabilization of blood glucose levels

  • Much, much more.

No prior training in meditation or yoga is necessary, although Yoga Nidrā can work in conjunction with other meditation practices to deepen them. Yoga Nīdra is performed while completely in śavāsana (corpse pose).

Joey regularly hosts group Yoga Nidrā events online. For scheduled Yoga Nidrā classes and other workshops, please check the EVENT CALENDAR

"I would love to share the effects of your guided relaxing yoga [nidra]. Yesterday, I was starting to go stir crazy. Living with a bi-polar disorder, PTSD, and claustrophobia, in a small apartment! I found it very hard to ground myself, even with all my crystals, dancing singing, walking the dogs in nature! Bless you! I woke this morning grounded and able to just sit, and even started organizing my file cabinet that has years of neglect. Wow! All I can say is wow, an amazing new tool to help me on my journey!
